Coaching Staff

The Indiana All-Stars Lacrosse Club coaching staff consists of experienced coaches with the common goal of maximizing player potential.

Founder and 2028 Head Coach

Scott Beesley

Coach Beesley was born and raised right here in Central Indiana. He has been the head coach of HSE for over a decade. Beesley played soccer and lacrosse in high school and went on to play club lacrosse at Ball State University while double majoring in Health and Physical Education. Before becoming head coach in 2014, he worked as an assistant at HSE and Noblesville, and coached youth both soccer and swimming in college.

 

During his time at HSE, the program has grown from a recreational club sport to a school recognized, varsity sport. With an overall record of 136-58, the Royals have competed in seven consistent Final Fours (2016-2023) with five consecutive State Championship appearances. The school's first State Championship in 2018, followed up runner-up in 2019, then back to back State Champions in 2021 and 2022, and another runner-up in 2023.

 

Coach Beesley was also recognized in 2016 and 2021 as the Hoosier Crossroads Lacrosse Conference coach of the year. Beesley is in his 12th year as a wellness teacher at Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate and Junior High School. Scott and his wife, Jordan added the newest member of their family, Brooks, on May 20, 2022. Brooks was two weeks old for the 2022 State Championship. Jordan is also a teacher at HIJH.

Scott prides himself on his work ethic and his whole-person approach to coaching young men. He understands the landscape of summer tournaments and has developed several Midwest connections (including the partnership with Project Midwest) that provides players the opportunity to be seen and coached at appropriate skill-level events. 

​

Coach Beesley and his staff continue to seek opportunities to further their lacrosse knowledge by attending the IMLCA conference and Coaches Summit, Lax Con, and the Notre Dame Coaches Clinic.

2026 Head Coach

Neal Barnes

Coach Barnes played lacrosse for Westfield High School coached by Chris Berju, and went on to play Division III lacrosse for Mount Saint Joseph's for Coach Pat Kennedy. Coach Barnes served as the Westfield Head Coach, where he led the program to their first ever Final Four appearance. He is currently the Hamilton Southeastern Varsity Offensive Coordinator.

Program Wide Defensive Coordinator 

Mike O'Rourke

Coach O’Rourke was named the IHSLA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019. He started playing lacrosse his freshman year in high school in Wilton, Connecticut. Throughout his four years, he played both long stick midfielder and close defense. O'Rourke went on to play Division I college lacrosse at Butler University. While at Butler, he started at close defense all four years, and finished as an All-American. He He has spent the last six years as the HSE Royals defensive coordinator and has been an instrumental part of their three state championships.

 

Additionally, he has coached at the collegiate, youth and club level and looks forward to having a positive impact on the players both on and off the field. Mike’s wife Annie, is a 6th grade teacher and they have two boys, Owen who is now at the Naval Academy and Dillon, a 2025 defensemen for the Royals.

2026/2027 Assistant Coach

Tim Shefferly

Coach Shefferly is entering his sixth year as a travel coach and fourth year at the high school level. He was the president for HSE-Fishers boys lacrosse and prior to that served on the youth baseball board for six years. Tim has coached high school baseball in Ohio, as well as football and basketball at various levels prior to committing to lacrosse full time.  He and his wife Nekko have two sons, Burke and Quinn. Quinn was a 2023 US All-American for the Royals and now plays at Wabash College.

Co-Founder

Jacob Mills

Coach Mills has been coaching lacrosse since 2016, serving as the head coach for several summer teams and as a Hamilton Southeastern Varsity assistant and JV Offensive Coordinator for the past three years. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mudsock Youth Athletics Boys Lacrosse program as the Director of Player and Coach Development. Coach Mills works in marketing as a Product Manager for a biotechnology company.

2027 Head Coach

Branden Stoeffler

​Coach Stoeffler started varsity for all 4 years at Fishers High School as a LSM and a close defender. From there he went on to play at Ohio Northern University for Coach Nat St. Laurent, and started for 3 years as an LSM. He earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors in 2021. He has spent several summers as a 12U and 14U coach for Mad Cats, Midwest Express, and Fishers Cats. He has spent the last three years as a Varsity Assistant and JV Defensive Coordinator for Hamilton Southeastern. He is also a Systems/Integration Engineer at The Vertex Company.

2029 Head Coach

Mark Berutich 

Coach Berutich is a former player & graduate of Chaminade High School (Long Island) and Cornell University. He has years of experience as both a director and coach in the following programs:  HSE-Fishers Boys Lacrosse (2010-2018), Mad Cats Lacrosse Club (2011-2019), and Midwest Express (2019-2021). Mark currently owns and operates Indy Lax Academy.

2026/2027 Assistant Coach

Jack Story

Coach Story comes to the Indiana All-Stars staff after a reinvigorating season coaching at his alma mater, Cathedral High School. He graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington where we played club lacrosse. He is excited to work with young men from all over the state and help grow the game in Indiana. Jack and his older brother, Sam, were instrumental in founding the program at Cathedral back in 2000 and they are very proud of how much it has grown in the past 20+ years. Coach Story is an avid film buff and spent eight years working in show business in Los Angeles, California.
